The City of Grand Forks is North Dakota's 3rd largest city. Located along the Red River of the North, Grand Forks has a population of over 55,000. Grand Forks has opportunities to grow for everyone from students, to military members, to our large and diverse community.

There are a number of neighborhoods for you to choose from when you’re scouting the town for your new home. The University of North Dakota, Grand Forks Air Force Base, and Downtown Grand Forks ND/East Grand Forks MN are all fixtures of the city worth checking out as you go through the home buying process. Consider the areas below when choosing a location for your new home.

University of North Dakota (UND)
The University of North Dakota is the state's oldest and largest university. UND is a busy 521-acre campus, situated in the hear of Grand Forks. Academic specialties range from engineering, medicine and aviation, to unmanned aircraft systems. The University competes in NCAA Division one sports, the pride of which is the men’s hockey team. You can’t miss a game at the Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Downtown Grand Forks
Downtown is located to the east of the University, right along the North Dakota/Minnesota Border. This is a fun and exciting part of town, that continues to expand its opportunities for fun things to do. Shopping, Restaurants, Breweries the Paddlewheel, and the bridge to cross into Minnesota are all accessible in this colorful neighborhood.

Grand Forks Air Force Base (GFAFB)
GFAFB is the home of the 319th Reconnaissance Wing, and is located about 16 miles west of the City of Grand Forks, ND. Many incoming Air Force members choose to live in the surrounding areas of Emerado, Meckinock, and Larimore.
